Today I released the album art for my forthcoming EP, Four Minute Symphonies on Twitter and Facebook. I've been working on this project for quite a while now. The title track, in fact, was written in 2008 and the EP was recorded during the summer of 2014. So why am I only just now getting around to sharing it with the world? Well, I didn't really have a band with which to play the songs back then, so it didn't seem like a good move to share something I couldn't perform. (You'll know straight away why they weren't right for Two Dragons and a Cheetah when you hear them.) Now with 2D&C on hiatus, I've got more bandwidth and consequently, a new band with which to play this music. While that band rehearses and prepares for prime time, I've still got plenty of shows with my Beatles tribute band, Doctor Robert and Penny Lane, as well as with Color Palette, a local electronic pop-rock act with which I've started singing. Don't worry, though. This is certainly not the last you'll be hearing about Four Minute Symphonies or the new group...
Sunday night was such a blast! I got to sing harmonies/backing vocals with one of my favorite local groups, Color Palette, at one of my favorite local venues, the Rock and Roll Hotel. I suppose I did okay because they asked me to join them for a few more of their upcoming gigs, the first of which will be at Metro Gallery in Baltimore on January 29th, which means I'll now be performing three nights in a row, all in different bands! The day before this show (January 28th) I'll be with Doctor Robert and Penny Lane at a Best of Classic Albums show at IOTA in Arlington and then the day after (January 30th) I'll be reprising my Alanis Morissette tribute at Jammin Java in Vienna at a Back to the 90s show. Then on the 31st, I'm hopping on a plane to South Carolina for my day job and back at it with Doctor Robert and Penny Lane at Roofers Union upon my return! #cantstopwontstop
Looks like I'll be doing something I haven't done in a really long time tomorrow night: playing a show as a solo act. I was just asked to join a really cool bill at IOTA Club and Cafe in Arlington, VA Saturday, January 16th. Is it weird that I'm actually a little nervous?! I suppose I can preview some of the songs on my forthcoming EP and also share some of the newer stuff I've been working on. Never a dull moment!
