This past weekend, Joel Wu was in town and he and I gave an impromptu performance at a house party in Shaw. By "performance" I mean we played three songs, but even that was impressive in my opinion given that it's been six months since I played those songs and since Joel has even been behind a drum kit! It felt so good to "do" Two Dragons and a Cheetah again and reminded me that if/when Joel returns for real, that'll be four acts I'll need to actively maintain, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
Color Palette takes off on our first "tour" next week. We'll be in Philadelphia on April 14th and New York City on April 15th, and we've got a show the next night back in here DC on April 16th. We've had all sorts of great news lately. Last weekend we got a call that the opening band for The Naked and Famous show at the Rock and Roll Hotel got stuck at Customs and we were asked to fill in. Magically, all five of us were available and as a result we got to play to a sold out crowd! Today we also had a really great review on Community Digital News from our last DC9 show.
I'm also incredibly excited to finally release a new EP entitled Four Minute Symphonies and play alongside Party Like It's... and Uptown Boys Choir at the release show on April 28th at Songbyrd Music House and Record Cafe!
None of my musical endeavors is in competition with another. I don't favor one over another. They all are equally important parts of my musical life, hell, my life in general! So each time I hear that "Isn't she in like 40 bands?" joke, I actually smile and think to myself, "I sure am."
